Does your client have antiques and art, collectibles and curiosities – or just junk? Organizers are often faced with guiding our clients on how to dispose of unwanted items. The more we understand about what has value, and to whom, the more value we can offer to our clients.
We’re excited to bring two unique speakers to the June meeting to talk about some of the ‘untapped resources’ in the city for both discerning and disposing of unwanted items.
Kelly Juhasz, Principal, Fine Art Appraisal and Services, and Owner, Wall Fiction Gallery will help us understand what to look for when working with your clients’ antiques, art, coins and other collectibles.
Alexandra Hooper, Set Decoration Buyer will discuss the art of Set Decoration, focusing on how the surroundings that are created for a character help to tell the story. She will illustrate how, unlike Interior Decorators who make environments look beautiful, she often searches for items that illustrate the story being told – things that are old and worn, or from a certain period, or have quirky appeal that gives hints to details in a character’s background. Alexx will discuss how the simplest things might be of use to movie sets, even if they don’t have a traditional or antique value.
Free for POC members, guests are required to pay $15 at the door.
