There are different ways to minimize the risk that running a business entails. A discussion about how business structures, contracts and regulatory requirements help a business owner limit their risk of operating a business will be discussed.
Speaker Bio: Michael Meredith holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from McGill University and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of New Brunswick. He has been practicing law since 2006 in the jurisdictions of Ontario, the United Kingdom, Germany and Alberta. In 2009 he returned to his hometown of Calgary. He has experience in the areas of banking, corporate law, and commercial law at both national and boutique firms. Currently his focus is on corporate law, real estate, wills, and estates.

Speaker Bio: As Chief Executive Officer and founding partner of MYCOR Insurance Solutions, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in property and casualty insurance to the firm. Having started his career as a customer service representative in 1998 with a midsize firm, Michael learned the business from the ground up and has spent more than 20 years working in the industry.
Michael’s primary focus, outside of overseeing the firm, has been on the design, implementation and administration of property and casualty insurance programs for hard to place industries. Michael’s ability and understanding of complex risks has helped MYCOR create innovative, risk based solutions that continue to be industry leading for the firm’s clients.

Debra deWaal, a former Police Officer will share with you her learning’s on how and how not to manage difficult people based on her colourful career with the Calgary Police Service. This engaging session will equip you with tricks and techniques to manage difficult client contacts and how to manage your own emotions and skill sets with excellence.

Speaker Bio: Debra deWaal is a former Calgary Police Officer and is now the owner of Safe & Sound Safety Training & Consulting Ltd. Debra’s 10 year career with CPS included 3 years undercover work in auto theft, stolen property and vice. Debra also spent numerous years working on the street as a uniformed officer.
Debra is a professional member of Canadian Association of Professional Speakers and has been developing and facilitating Mental Toughness, Personal Safety and Conflict Management Training to Canadian citizens since 1995.
